How to Spin a Web for your Business

A Soulful Business is like Spider's Web

I've been seeing a lot of spiders lately.
I've been thinking a lot about my business, too.

I know the two don't sound like they go together, but hear me out. This morning I watched one of these little acrobats weave back and forth, respinning her web that had been damaged by the wind and rain from last night. Then, it dawned on me that a soulful business is like a spider's web. We go about our days trying to make them better. We create killer content, the stickiness that attracts our perfect clients. The spider doesn't think, "I'm going to make this web to catch a lot of flies," or in our case, money. She simply makes the web sticky and manageable. She is of service to her eco-system (or tribe). Then she let's go of the outcome. She believes in her work, repairs it, and fortifies it. She set it up so she can work it herself, like Soul-o-preneurs. Spider makes the web stickier, so it attracts the juicy morsels she wants. We make our content juicy so it attracts the right soul-clients. When our people, come into our webs, we wrap them in a blanket of compassion and love. At this point, Spider's story is not as compelling. The point is we don't have to sell, sell, sell. Spider doesn't sell her web to her prey. She just knows that it will catch flies.

I believe there is going to be a new way of doing business. It's softer, gentler, and more focused on connection rather than beating someone over the head. We can look to nature and our own intuition to show us the way. Our job is to show up and build our sticky webs. Let's lead our soulful businesses with our stories and ancient wisdom, instead of brow beating and consumerism.

How is your business like a spider's web? How can you make it stickier?
